Gateway Tabernacle Church
Gateway Tabernacle Church, founded in September 1987 by the late Bishop/Pastor Patrick L. Davis and Bishop/Pastor Daisy M. Davis in Martinsville, Indiana, has an inspirational history rooted in faith and music. Prior to answering the call to ministry, Bishop Pat Davis led a fascinating life in the music industry. His musical journey included performing with rockabilly and country groups and professionally touring with the late country singer Bobby Helms during the 1970s. Despite his success in the music world, Bishop Pat felt compelled to dedicate himself to full-time ministry and pastorship from 1987 onward.
Bishop Pat Davis possessed remarkable musical talents, excelling as a songwriter, guitarist, and vocalist. Even after embracing his pastoral duties, he continued to share his musical gifts with the church and also joined the Southern Gospel group, The Sound in the Wilderness, based in Martinsville, Indiana. A testament to his impact in the music industry, Bishop Pat Davis was a lifetime member of the Country Gospel Music Association in Branson, Missouri, and was honored as an inductee of the Rockabilly Hall of Fame in Memphis, Tennessee. His rockabilly hit, “Who Stole My Spinner Hubcaps,” released in 1960, further solidified his place in music history.

In 2015, Bishop Pat Davis passed away, leaving behind a powerful legacy. To honor his memory and continue his ministry, his wife, Bishop Daisy M. Davis, bravely took on the role of Senior Pastor of Gateway Tabernacle Church. Since then, Bishop Daisy has dutifully served as the Senior Pastor, carrying forward the vision and dedication embodied by her late husband. The church’s story is a testament to resilience, faith, and the enduring power of music and ministry.

Spring 2022 Welcomed Co-Pastor Rev. Tammy Davis
The Spring of 2022 brought great joy to Gateway Tabernacle as they welcomed their new Co-Pastor, Rev. Tammy Davis from Indianapolis, IN. With a rich history at Gateway Tabernacle, Tammy’s roots run deep as she has been a devoted member for many years. Notably, she is the daughter of the late Bishop Patrick L. Davis and stepdaughter of Bishop Daisy Davis.
Beyond her pastoral duties, Tammy is a multifaceted musician, showcasing her exceptional talents as a vocalist, pianist, and flutist. Her melodic gifts have resonated not only within the walls of Gateway but also in various other churches and Christian coffeehouses.
Notably, Tammy is an integral member of The Sound in the Wilderness Christian music group, where her passion for music and faith harmoniously intertwine.
